Marine insurance is one of the oldest and most complex types of insurance. Most shipowners insure the major risks: H&M and P&I. After the Bunkers Convention came to force in 2008, liability insurance of pollution risks, piracy and war risks become mandatory (for vessels with tonnage of 1000 tons and more). You can also insure the risks of liability to the crew, increased value of the vessel, loss of freight, charterer's liability, legal costs, towing and so on.
